“Enter fire pits, exit clean air”

In the “Roasted & Toasted” section of today’s Lethbridge Herald, a resident raises important questions about the City of Lethbridge’s poor decision to introduce Bylaw 5431.  I remember the City’s promotion of the idea of unnecessary backyard fires providing “many hours/seasons of enjoyment.” (The preceding Bylaw 4489, which had prohibited all outdoor burning of any material, was repealed when Bylaw 5431 was unfortunately passed in late 2006.  In March 2014, Bylaw 5858 replaced Bylaw 5431, allowing for even longer hours of harmful and completely needless outdoor wood burning pollution.)
